Perry manufacturer seeks Technical Support Specialist


         $13-$15/hr based on experience

         Monday Friday 8am-5pm


         This person installs, modifies, and helps repair personal computer hardware and software systems.  Provides technical assistance and training to system users.  Takes on specific IT projects relating to (but not limited to) network enhancements, internet-related systems, and customization of currently used systems.


Requirements include:


         Associates Degree or equivalent from two-year college/technical school; or one- two years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

         Excellent communication both written and verbal

         Perfect Attendance is a must

         Ability to use office software, including Word processing, Spreadsheets, Databases, Slide Presentations, Internet browsers, E-mail, and business systems software.  Knowledge of operating system commands and services in DOS, Windows (9x, 2000, XP, 2003 Server), NetWare 4x environments.  Knowledge of HP3000 MPE/iX, Lotus Notes, and EDI fundamentals are preferred, but not required. 


Duties include:


         Inspects personal computer equipment and prepares microcomputer for desktop implementation in a network environment.

         Installs hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives as needed.

         Loads specified software packages such as hardware drivers, operating systems, word processing, spreadsheet, and/or terminal emulation programs into desktop computers.

         Enters commands and observes system functions to verify correct system operation.

         Responds to user inquiries concerning systems operation and diagnoses system hardware, software, and operator problems.

         Instructs users in use of equipment, software, manuals, and proper-use policies (e.g. antivirus, security, back-ups).

         Recommends or performs actions to correct problems.

         Coordinates activities with other Information Systems groups and projects.

         Provides updates, status, and completion information to manager, problem request tracking system, and/or user, via voice mail, e-mail, or in-person communication.

         Replaces defective or inadequate software packages; installs software upgrades.

         Refers major hardware problems to service personnel for correction and coordinate service schedules.

         Performs asset management tasks to track and control installed desktop systems and peripheral hardware.
