CNC Mill Setup Specialist Basic Purpose:
The CNC Specialist Level A is responsible for set-up, operation, and running components through the CNC machines per print. 


Responsibilities:

  • Requires developed proficiency in the operation of various machines.
  • Produce parts off of the CNC machines per print.
  • Post programs on the shop floor machines.
  • Set tools and make necessary adjustments to offsets to produce wide variety of close tolerance parts per print.
  • To have the competencies to set up complex parts with multiple set ups.
  • Includes a requirement to plan the work, determine cutting sequences, develop holding and chucking fixtures, adjust feeds and speeds and cut depths and select appropriate cutting tools using the print part, sketches or verbal description of the part to be made.
  • Ability to design and draw up CNC holding fixtures for the parts being machined.
  • Make minor changes to a software program in Gibbs Cam on the floor, if needed.
  • Set up, adjust and operate machine tools with limited supervision.
  • Knowledge to manually write a program at the machine controls.
  • Position and secure work piece(s) in machine; position tools in relationship to work piece.
  • Double check the programs during operation.  Ex. Checking the first line of canned cycle.
  • Make all necessary fine adjustments to machine tool for critical work.
  • Use of a variety of precision measuring devices to position part, check dimensions during machining and check final part for accuracy.
  • Ability to sign in pieces for a set up along with compound angle setups.
  • Ensure the completion of all paperwork, records, documents, etc.
  • Able to work overtime when requested to meet the needs of customer timelines.
  • Follow all clean up and housekeeping procedures.
  • Comply with all quality, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Recognize, report, and correct errors.
  • Support ISO 9001, LEAN manufacturing and 5S practices.
  • Commits to the corporate goals, mission, and vision.


Minimum Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 5 years experience in a non-production CNC job shop environment. 
  • Experience working with close tolerances.
  • Entry level use of Microsoft software.
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen

 

Pay, benefits, and shift:

  • Pay based on experience $18- $23/hr. plus a 12% shift premium for 2nd shift.
  • Full benefits- health, dental, vision, and life.
  • Shift time is 2:45P- 1:45A
