Premier Mentor area manufacturer has an immediate opening for a Technical Design Engineer
Up to $39/hr based on experience
7AM-4PM or 8AM 5PM Monday through Friday
Temp only with extensions likely for other projects
Perform drafting duties and project assignments based on instructions and guidance from manager, supervisor, engineers or senior designers. Ensures accurate design, development, and documentation of the manufacturing construction process for mechanical or electrical components and sub-assemblies to meet company, team and group goals. Will collaborate with design, manufacturing, and service engineers to create production-ready component and product designs and drawings using 2D and 3D applications.
Prepares complete and accurate layouts: critical tolerance areas, component requirements and placement, material selection and manufacturability in support of current products, new designs, methods, materials, or process studies
Creates accurate and complete drawings in regards to views, dimensioning, and conformance to company engineering specifications and drafting standards; assists in the final drafting checking function and aids in securing all necessary approvals for all drawings produced
Creates CAD models and assists with developing design layouts and drawings for a variety of components, sub-assemblies, processes, or equipment in support of projects
Use of technical engineering design/drafting technology principles to document design solutions for medical devices. Uses 2D and 3D CAD software
Interacts with vendors, suppliers, and consultants, on a limited basis, to assure compliance with requirements and specifications
Works as a collaborative team member in engineering projects
Contributes to some ideas and concepts of designs
Provides technical assistance to Manufacturing, Service, Purchasing, etc. on implementation of ECN s through the PLM system as to documentation problems and or manufacturing problems
May be required to assist with duties involving prototype assembly, parts expediting for prototypes, verification of new or existing products and other duties associated with engineering projects
HS Diploma required; some college or computer certification preferred
Aptitude for mechanical design
Requires organizational, communication, problem solving, and troubleshooting skills and a mature approach to cross functional working environments
Creo 4.0, AutoCAD, Windshield PLM, Microsoft Office
Manufacturing experience and previous experience with sheet metal is a plus!
