Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm | Salary: $80,000 a year
Well-known specialized commercial insurance firm has an immediate need for an Accountant to join their team. With your experience in the insurance/reinsurance industry, you will perform accounting functions such as recording of premiums, managing cash flow, and preparing financial reports. If you are a detail-oriented and organized accountant professional, apply today! 
Accountant’s Responsibilities
  • Perform accounting functions for various reinsurance contracts such as the recording of premiums, commissions, and incurred losses, and the processing of payments 
  • Communicate with customers and brokers to facilitate understanding of contract specifications and effectively manage cash flow
  • Participate in a team environment in collaboration with Underwriting, Actuarial, and Claims
  • Assist in the preparation of internal and external monthly, quarterly, and annual statutory financial reports
  • Analyze quarterly results and perform variance analysis to support management information requests
  • Assist the external audit firm with interim and annual audit information needs
  • Ensure high levels of data integrity through the application of analytical review techniques and controls
  • Complete complex account reconciliations
  • Maintain technical and professional knowledge through participation in various seminars and training opportunities
Accountant’s Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent 
  • Minimum 1 year of accounting experience 
  • Solid analytical, problem solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Previous work experience with month/quarter end close processes and account reconciliations
  • Ability to complete projects and document work in a timely fashion and in accordance with set timelines
  • Careful attention to detail
  • Collaborate effectively with other team members and departments, and contribute positively to work teams
  • Insurance/reinsurance industry experience
  • Knowledge of financial statement reporting and related analysis, information systems processing, and internal controls
  • Software experience in Microsoft Office 365 Suite, SICS, Power BI, and ImageRight a plus
