Temporary Assignment
We are looking for an experienced Bilingual Employment Specialist who can help refugees find the resources they need to manage the difficulties they are currently facing in the United States. You will provide intake and take assessments to assist with future employment plans. The Refugee Resettlement Department assists refugees in Houston to acquire the skills needed to reach self-sufficiency and live with dignity. The Employment Specialist is responsible for employment intake and assessment, data entry, case notes, maintaining files, and file reviews to assist refugee clients to acquire jobs that promote self-sufficiency. This position requires the specialist to be bilingual in Spanish.

 Bilingual Employment Specialist’s Responsibilities:
  • Assist with providing intake, assessment, and individual employment plans for each employable client. Providing group and individual intensive job readiness orientations, through specific employment opportunities 
  • Schedule interviews for clients, assist with their application, and interview process, and monitor the job placement for 30/60/90 days
  • Assist with post-placement issues and employment needs beyond initial employment
  • Provide video translation services and transportation assistance for clients 
  • Track clients placed in jobs in RCA and RSS programs using RMS, Client Track, and internal spreadsheets. Verify RMS and Client Track , with enrollments, job referrals and placements, review employment files with data entry, write case notes, and maintain files for funding requirements
  • Attend meetings with other service providers, United Way tours, and agency 
 Bilingual Employment Specialist’s Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • One (1) year of experience in an administrative setting or within refugee populations
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Valid Texas Driver’s License
  • Demonstrated organizational and planning skills, attention, to detail and capability to multi-task
  • Ability to understand program policies and make informed decisions regarding programs
  • Demonstrated success in dealing with a variety of people
  • An understanding of and sensitivity to other cultures is necessary
  • Ability to handle confidential client information
  • Ability to manage time and resources: Team player
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access)
  • Knowledge of case notes processing, typing skills, data entry, report, and file maintenance
  • Must provide proof of COVID vaccinations
