Buyer
$24 - $26/hr.  | Houston Energy Corridor
Monday – Friday 8 am – 5 pm
Project Based 3 - months
 
We are seeking a Buyer for a 3 - 6-month project for a leader in leak testing equipment located in the Houston energy corridor. This project will consist of working with production planning, materials requirements planning, purchasing supplies, raw materials, and services for product inventory, managing supplier performance and cost reduction projects.
 
What Will You Do:
  • Procure supplies, materials, and equipment, by  performing check requisitions, contacting vendors and examining bids and contracts
  • Drive the development of the project and sustaining production schedules from operations and engineering plans and production specifications
  • Interface with Production, Engineering, Shipping, Accounting, etc. to resolve any supply, quality, or logistical problems associated with purchased items
  • Work with design engineering on new product launches, and supplier selection, and ensure a seamless  release
  • Resolve supplier problems over shipments, shortages, discrepant or obsolete materials, invoice issues, and rework or scrap material
  • Review Open Purchase Ordersbsiness needs
  • Responsible for monitoring and ensuring delivery and inventory performance objectives per the operating plan are met/exceeded quality, and compliance policies
  • Work diligently and efficiently, using industry best practices  
  • Keep a cooperative attitude with the team, leaders, and co‐workers
  • Work overtime, weekends, and holidays, per business needs
 What Will You Need:
  • Bachelor's degree
  •  Three - Five (3 - 5) years of experience in the supply chain, business, or industrial management,
  • Minimum three to five years of Supply Chain (production planning and/or procurement) experience 
  • APICS CPIM or CSCP or ISM CPSM or CPSD Certifications are preferred
  • Industrial manufacturing, high mix/low volume background preferred
  • Vendor experience with fabricated, machined, or cast metal products, electrical components manufacturers, valve and regulator manufacturers, and industrial supply distributors
  • Working knowledge of ISO, negation skills and ability to establish relationships with vendors 
  • Working knowledge of  Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook
  • Ability to identify and escalate problems
  • Able to adhere to deadlines
