The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist will support and meet the patient care needs in the Department of Anesthesiology. Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist’s Responsibilities
- Conduct pre-anesthesia evaluations, including assessing the patient’s medical history and how it might affect the patient's response to anesthesia
- Obtain informed consent for anesthesia
- Administer anesthetic-related drugs and controlled substances
- Select or insert both invasive and noninvasive monitoring modalities
- Perform point-of-care testing
- Plan and initiate anesthetic techniques, including general, regional, local, and sedation.
- Facilitate emergence and recovery from anesthesia.
- Maintain detailed anesthetic records in the EMR system and other documentation as indicated.
Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist’s Qualifications
- A Master’s degree or higher from a nurse anesthesia educational program accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (COA) is required.
- A Valid Texas RN License, CRNA License, and a National Certification Examination by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) are required.
- The ability to maintain current knowledge about new drugs and techniques as they become available is required.
- Must be able to utilize the processes of assessment, diagnosis, management, and evaluation to provide care that integrates the psychosocial and physical needs of the patient/family
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check

- The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, as needed.
