DO YOU ALIGN WITH THESE KEY QUALIFICATIONS?
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, assistive technology, education, or a related field required
  • 5 years of experience managing accessible/assistive technology, including 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Valid Texas Driver's License
  • MS Office program experience
  • Deep understanding of Information Management Systems
  • Knowledge of Americans with Disabilities Act as amended 2008, Section 504 & 508 of the Rehabilitation Act
 
WHAT WILL YOUR SUCCESS LOOK LIKE? 
As the Director of Digital Accessibility, your role involves overseeing daily staff operations, ensuring adherence to processes and procedures, and guaranteeing user accessibility across all technological assets. This includes both internal and external websites, learning platforms, as well as managed hardware and software.
 
WHAT WILL YOU DO?   
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and act as a liaison to ensure campus technological assets meet digital accessibility requirements, collaborating with various campus community areas.
  • Develop and execute digital accessibility strategies and initiatives, ensuring compliance with relevant standards such as WCAG.
  • Educate staff and faculty on digital accessibility requirements, monitor federal and state compliance, identify tools and resources for compliance, and collaborate on strategic opportunities.
  • Coordinate with Disability Services and General Counsel on digital accessibility matters, attend meetings representing IT, and consult with IT Business Operations and Procurement staff to ensure accessibility requirements are incorporated into processes.
  • Lead a team of digital accessibility professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance management to ensure successful implementation of accessibility initiatives.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of digital accessibility programs to maintain compliance with laws, conduct audits and assessments of digital content, and develop administrative controls and strategies for effective oversight of digital content.
