About the Opportunity:
A National General Contractor is actively seeking an Operations Director to spearhead its Industrial CapEx team, stationed in Des Moines, IA. This pivotal role demands considerable weekly business travel and the ability to adeptly manage tasks from diverse locations in alignment with business objectives.
Role Summary:
- Assume leadership of overall construction operations within the industrial unit, guiding Project Executive(s), Senior Managers, and personnel across multiple sites.
- Collaborate closely with the business development team to identify promising opportunities, sustain relationships, and contribute to the realization of strategic goals.
- Provide comprehensive oversight for projects spanning from preconstruction activities to final closure, ensuring safety, quality, profitability, and adherence to project schedules.
- Drive the growth of the team by identifying talent needs, overseeing recruitment, and promoting internal talent.
- Collaborate with the Business Unit Leader to create and execute annual operating plans and strategies for growth.
- Take charge of risk management and mitigation efforts pertaining to construction operations.
- Advocate for value engineering and scope reduction strategies.
- Serve as a mediator in disputes among various stakeholders.
- Cultivate robust working relationships with stakeholders across all project phases.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Hold a bachelor's degree relevant to the industry or possess equivalent experience.
- Possess a minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in construction project management.
- Demonstrate a track record of successful strategic execution, effective team leadership, and a keen business acumen.
- Familiarity with LEAN principles and desirable OSHA certifications (10 or 30).
- Showcase strong conflict resolution skills, networking abilities, and a self-motivated work ethic.
- Exhibit proficiency in essential software such as Microsoft Office and project management tools (e.g., JDE, Procore, Bluebeam).
