Director of Supply & Inventory Planning 
Type: Direct-Hire
Hybrid schedule
Location: Danbury, CT
Salary: $130,000/year - $140,000/year + 13%commission
 
 
DEPARTMENT/ POSITION SUMMARY
A top leader in providing sorting and software solutions to mailers and shippers is seeking Director of Supply & Inventory Planning, who will be responsible for material planning, inventory management, and direct material purchasing for all products. 
 
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
 
  • Perform analyses of a qualitative and quantitative nature and make operational recommendations about material planning, forecasting, and inventory efficiencies such as min/max planning
  • Lead and manage a team that is responsible for inventory planning, supply planning, and supplier delivery
  • Drive the material flow and availability strategy and measure and improve material availability
  • Create inventory projections and models
  • Responsible for global inventory strategy delivering an optimized and efficient solution measured by days of supply (DOS), inventory $’s and turns to meet business requirements
  • Lead initiatives to improve Supply Planning KPIs and Metrics
  • Develop internal processes that ensure that purchase orders are executed within 3 days and confirmed with suppliers within 5 days.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Sourcing to ensure that all past due POs>30 days have a root cause and corrective action.
 
QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATIONS)

  • 10 years of experience in a similar industry with dealer/OEM contact experience preferred
  • 10 years of experience in the supply chain, manufacturing, or distribution function, with 4+ years of supervisory roles (electro-mechanical is a plus)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • Lead team members in departmental activities including communicating instructions, training, achieving goals, and quick turnarounds 
  • Tracking and reporting key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve the effectiveness
  • Provide critical thought, give input, and oversee follow-through on strategic supply chain initiative
  • Understand key drivers of inventory and seek to reduce overall inventory value while maintaining sufficient supply to support target fill rates
  • Drive a culture of analysis and execution taking ownership of identified issues in supply planning to drive quantifiable solutions and positive business results
  • Supervise daily operations of the Supply Planning Team and ensure proper and timely execution of all the corresponding tasks
  • Provide critical thought, give input, and oversee follow-through on strategic supply chain initiatives
