Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Simsbury, CT

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Assist in the development of standard products including layouts, drawings and diagrams, and other engineering-related activities
  • Validation test specification development and manufacturing/production/validation test support
  • Ascertain the application suitability and feasibility for newly designed electronic initiation product/system concepts through feasibility studies and prototype development. 
  • Meet with vendors regarding new product design equipment and end-of-life part 
  • Generate specifications and liaise with the relevant internal and external technical resources to fully develop a new concept/idea
  • Idea/patent/ IP generation through innovation and technological development 
  • Work closely with global suppliers of applicable technology to ensure effective integration and industrialization of the latest technology. 
  • Design and qualify products to various international regulatory bodies standards, such as CE, IEC, FCC, ICASA
  • Embedded software development in C
  • Communicate project timelines, changes, and updates to the project manager to achieve agreed project outputs. 
  • Provide support to the engineering and production teams in achieving full industrialization and implementation of developed concepts/ideas/technologies.
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Electronics) or equivalent 
  • Minimum of 3 years experience with analogue and digital circuit design.
  • Altium Designer, Mentor , or similar PCB design software skills
  • Knowledge of electronic communication networks, such as CAN, NFC, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, RS485, or similar beneficial
  • Digital design skills with Verilog/VHDL and FPGAs/ CPLDs beneficial
  • Must have the ability to function both independently as well as in a matrix organization to interface with design teams, manufacturing, supply chain management, and program management personnel, as well as with customers.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to write technical reports, user requirement specifications, technical data sheets,
    test plans and reports, and validation plans.
