Job Summary for the Grinder:

Grind castings with various air tools and media to achieve a smooth casting surface that conforms to customer prints and specifications.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities for the Grinder

Day is divided between grinding and arc air cutoff.  If you re a good grinder and willing to learn the arc air cutoff process, this company is willing to train.

          Inspect parts for defects and inform supervisor of gross defects

          Grind casting surfaces to required contours

          Inspect inside passages for obstructions and smoothness

          Maintain a clean and organized workstation

          Maintain air tools in working condition

          Clean out grinding booth weekly


Cut Off Duties:

Job Summary

Remove gates and risers from castings either through arc-air cutting or saw cutting

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

         Identify the alloy being cut

         Cut with saw or arc-air being careful to only remove non casting material

         Separate the returns into the proper tubs

         Place like alloy parts in tubs or pallets and label with part number and due date


Other requirements:

         Great Attendance

         Able and/or experienced working in a heavy manufacturing setting

         Willing to listen and learn therefore, attitude is very important

         Able to read and understand English used for understanding documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, job tickets, and procedure manual. Must be able to convey issues or concerns relating to the quality of the casting.

         High School diploma or GED, preferred but not required

         Math Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers.

         Must have good eye-hand coordination.  This is a two-handed operation.



         3rd shift, M-F 8:00 pm - 5:30 am

         Train on 1st shift,  M-F 5:00 am 3:30 pm

         Pay ranges from $13 16/hr. based on experience;  3rd shift pays $1/hr. shift premium
