Medical Coder

Duties of the medical coder:

• Apply ICD-10 codes to complex inpatient visits with long hospital stays
• Using documentation, assign Present on Admission values to secondary diagnoses
• Review provider notes within the health record
• Verify discharge planning and nurse documentation which impact reimbursement
• Review and verify health record documentation to verify reimbursement and payment amounts

Requirements of the medical coder:

• Minimum of 3 years of complex level 1 trauma-type medical coding experience required
• Current CCS through AHIMA required

What to expect as the medical coder:

• M-F 8am-5pm schedule, NO weekends
• Remote capability
