Position Overview 

Are you a PLC Controls pro? Are you looking for the next big step in your career? You may be the perfect fit for a Fairbury food manufacturing company looking for a PLC Controls Technician! In this role, you would be responsible for maintaining, repairing and/or replacing equipment, as well as modifying existing production equipment to improve both reliability and functionality of the high-speed packaging equipment and robots in the facilities. 

Schedule M-F(with rotating weekends) on 1st shift 6am-4:30pm or 2nd shift 3pm-1:30pm
Pay: $30 - $38 / hour based on experience 

 

  1. Follow GMPs and all Food Safety Policies at all times
  2. Maintain a safe work environment and follow safety policies
  3. Notify management immediately of any unsafe situations
  4. Ability to work two Saturday/Sundays a month.
  5. Must always follow LOTO (Lock Out/Tag Out) program
  6. Participate in daily LEAN meeting and stretches
  7. Ability to walk outdoors in all conditions between buildings
  8. Ability to walk on uneven surfaces, ramps, and stairs
  9. Ability to safely walk on slick surfaces due to working conditions or weather conditions
  10. Ability to work in extreme hot and cold environments.
  11. Ability to bend, stoop, twist, push, pull 7-8 hours a day
  12. Prompt and regular attendance is required.
  13. Ability to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.  This is a Strength Level Factor 4. (Chart shown on the last page of description)

Essential Functions

  1. Willingness to work long hours to complete jobs or repair/troubleshoot equipment.
  2. Ability to repair and troubleshoot (starters, fuses, contacts, relays, level probes, flow meters, drives/VFDs, etc.)
  3. Knowledge of AC/DC voltage, AC/DC drives, control wiring, and PLC Controls
  4. Assist with the servicing of equipment by testing, troubleshooting, using volt meters to determine specific problems.
  5. Ability to read and understand Ladder Logic and be familiar with Allen Bradley’s RS Logix 5000 software.
  6. Assist with the repairs of process equipment, its sub-systems and all ancillary processes or equipment related to the operation of the plant floor
  7. Perform routine or non-routine maintenance as required
  8. Set up and change over equipment to achieve maximum efficiency during production
  9. Complete assigned responsibilities through the work order maintenance program
  10. Troubleshoot PLC programs to support the automation of the facility
  11. Converse with equipment operators to identify current or potential equipment maintenance requirements
  12. Record, document and complete all supporting maintenance documents as required
  13. Set up and maintain high speed production equipment
  14. Maintain and troubleshoot case erectors, case coding and other equipment as identified
  15. Assists with the maintenance and installation of communication cables, power distribution, and wiring required for equipment
  16. Adheres to all company policies including, but not limited to safety, GMPs, and SOPs
  17. Actively participates in all assigned team meetings, training opportunities and required continuing education
  18. Wearing required PPE and following all safety requirements.
  19. Other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
