Job Description
Our client in Brunswick, Ohio is looking for a scientist for our respiratory protective equipment and chemical protective clothing laboratory sectors. This role involves performance testing of finished respiratory protective devices and raw materials, including those used for chemical protective clothing such as gloves and coveralls. The applicant should be experienced in handling hazardous chemicals as well as analytical techniques, such as GC-FID and conductivity.
Responsibilities include
Setting up and performing chemical cartridge service life testing against gaseous challenge compounds. The applicant should have a proven track record of safely working in a laboratory setting as well as a sound understanding of the proper handling of chemicals. Beyond testing, the applicant would be responsible for data collection and analysis, report writing, and maintenance / validation of equipment & test platforms. Attention to detail is key.
The applicant would be joining a small team of responsible for performing a wide variety of testing to ASTM, EN, and NIOSH standards & specifications. ICS is an ISO/IEC 17025 lab, accredited and audited by A2LA.
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in chemistry
- Three years of experience in a laboratory or industrial setting
- Desire to work in a small team environment Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree or PhD in analytical chemistry
- 5 – 10 years of experience working with hazardous chemicals, including with toxic gases
- Data-oriented programing experience (e.g. R, Python, Matlab, LabVIEW) Schedule
8 hour shifts with flexibility in start time. Hours of business: 6A – 6P
