Senior Staff Accountant [Direct Hire + Hybrid 3 days in the Office]
$90,000 - $95,000 |   I-10 and Interstate 69
Monday – Friday  8:30 am– 5:30 pm, 7 am – 4 pm  or 9 am - 6 pm standard hours could be 9 am -6 pm  or 7 am - 4 pm
 
We seek an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant for a direct hire opportunity with an architect firm located near 1-10 and Interstate 69 in Houston, TX. Our client provides job opportunities in architecture and interior design with competitive salaries and attractive benefits. The Senior Accountant is responsible for performing the duties of the general accounting function. This position ensures the preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations, performs various analytical procedures, manages month-end closures, and provides support for the Chief Financial Officer.  Senior Staff Accountant Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage monthly, quarterly and year-end close
  • Assist in financial statement preparation for review with CFO
  • Coordinate with tax accountants to gather data needed for timely tax return preparation
  • Perform accounting procedures, general ledger maintenance, prepaid and accrual schedules, and fixed assets/depreciation schedules
  • Support CFO in managing the annual insurance renewal process and payment allocations to all offices
  • Assist in establishing interoffice procedures, entries and consolidated financials
  • Prepare JE’s and transactions in the Deltek Vantagepoint for all corporate transactions
  • Prepare reconciliation of balance sheet and ensure accounts are reconciled monthly.
  • Establish and document policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP principles
  • Perform various analyses over monthly expenses incurred and accrued
  • Ensure accurate and timely coding of amounts recorded; provides related explanation and analysis
  • Assist in preparing for annual audits (401k, worker’s comp, insurance), providing information to auditors 
  • File quarterly use tax returns, annual property tax returns, and other returns to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed:
  • Strong Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP, if functions, pivot tables, etc. and PowerPoint as well as applicable accounting software
  • Thorough knowledge of general accounting including the application of general accounting theory, general ledger, journal entries, account reconciliations and banking transactions
  • Ability to communicate effectively and influence individuals in various functions 
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data
  • Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities and abilities to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Proficient in time, priority, and task management
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels
