The Material Handler assists in hanging tape on the slitter by retrieving and returning materials for slitting crews

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
o Maintains material consumption reports as necessary
o Operates waste baler and manual and electrical pallet jacks
o Follows production schedule
o Checks data entries in SAP computer program-stock overview/inventory data
o Records inventory of I.P. materials
o Reads and follows simple production schedules and material requirements on the shop floor
o Completes daily Tow motor inspection reports
o Ensures equipment is working correctly and writes work orders for repair as needed
o Reads tags and labels to ensure that proper materials are retrieved
o Suggests changes that will cut costs or improve production
o Retrieves and returns supplies and materials for slitter crews
o Loads and unloads elevator and trucks for cores
o Instructs trainees or temporary employees in all phases of material handling and record keeping
o Places received or transferred cartons, cores, spaces, bags, film, labels and any other items in storage
o Empties all trash cans/boxes or buggies
o Hangs tape for slitters
o Moves tape from Calendering/Mixing Department to burl storage racks/finishing
o Keeps cores, cartons, and cardboard area s organized and clean
o Assists as manual assistant on slitter or pack on line if required at Level II
o Indirectly responsible for the safety of crewmembers
o Partially responsible for cleaning and housekeeping
o Makes preventive maintenance and safety inspections
o Performs other tasks or duties as assigned by Finishing Shift Manager

Speaks fluent English
Knowledge of basic math; ability to read and understand percentages and decimals
Manual dexterity
Understanding of production schedules
Able to work as a team member
Able to provide frequent mental and visual attention
Basic computer skills
Understanding of NSOPs
Knowledge of hoist and trash compactor

Education/Certification Requirements
o High school diploma or GED
o Required to obtain hand jack license
o Required to obtain a Tow Motor License
o Appropriate WorkKeys Scores
