Shipping Specialist

Would you like to work with a company that has nine internationally known iconic brands and are driven by vision, values, and priorities? The Shipping Specialist is responsible for scheduling and documenting all outbound traffic, contacting customers and carriers to route shipments, preparing records of shipments including Bills of Lading, and maintaining pickup appointments and pickup status. If you are an individual who can complete tasks successfully with little supervision, then we are interested in you.
 
What will you be doing?
  • Responsible and accountable for building relationships with customers and specific carriers.
  • Routes and optimizes carriers’ freight
  • Makes sure customers’ shipment start dates, cancel dates, and distribution dates are met.
  • Communicates issues information from customers and specific carriers back to customer service, strategic services, and transportation.
  • Coordinates with customer logistics department and carriers to confirm that adequate equipment is on site.
  • Prepares outbound paperwork ensuring it is complete and accurate.
  • Maintains orderly files and shipping records for all outbound shipments.
  • Uses PKMS Warehouse Management System for shipment data to build loads, track/update shipment information, and research issue.
  • Uses Microsoft Outlook e-mail for communications.
  • Communicates with the shipping dock management team regarding specific customer or carrier issues.
  • Prepares commercial invoices for international shipping.
  • Sets up new customer accounts.
 
What is required?
  • 2 Year Degree Preferred.
  • 2+ years of shipping routing experience preferred.
  • Distribution background is a plus
  • Able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Exceptional computer skills (MS Office, Word, Excel)
  • Strong Analytical and Problem-solving skills
  • 1-3 years of Distribution or Relevant Supervisory Experience
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
