Regional Technical Sales Manager (West Coast)
Type: Direct-Hire
West Coast
Salary: $85,000/year - $90,000/year + commission
DEPARTMENT/ POSITION SUMMARY
A top leader in the manufacturing industry is seeking a Regional Technical Sales Manager, who will work closely with customers, sales team, and upper management to grow and promote the sale of their products. Sales are the first line of contact with all new customers. Along with their assignments, the Technical Sales Manager will establish and maintain long-term business relationships with new and current customer bases in their designated territory.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Grow and close opportunity sales through professional communication with existing and potential customers.
- Manage and interpret customer requirements – speaking with customers to understand, anticipate and meet their needs.
- Contact customers and visit customer sites to promote all products, spare parts, components, and service calls/contracts.
- Identify and research new customers and parallel markets and actively prospect to develop new opportunities.
- Communicate market and customer information, budget, timing, price sensitivity, competitive landscape, etc., for individual opportunities to drive commercial strategy to impact bid success positively.
- Sales of all products and services. These include Engineered products, Swagers, Spring Coilers
- Internally communicate sales or service opportunities and customer concerns or suggestions.
- Maintain strong and effective communication between the sales, service, and engineering departments to meet customer project requirements.
- Expand market awareness of our products and industry experience by prospecting with new customers and effectively communicating the features and benefits of our products and services.
- Act as focal point, facilitate communication regarding customer complaints, and direct development of corrective action to the applicable business unit and function.
- Maintain records of customer communications and contact information, including signed documentation, ensuring these are passed to Customer Service to be saved in the appropriate location.
- Working knowledge of job costing and price calculations.
- Responsible for attending and participating in trade shows, conferences, and other marketing events as directed by management.
- Generating and delivering technical presentations.
- Maintain awareness of pertinent customer information, plans, payment performance, vendor loyalty, buying habits, etc.
- Maintain knowledge of competitor products and identify and report intelligence on competitor pricing or marketing strategies.
- Use CRM system to manage opportunity pipeline, log sales activity, schedule follow-up, set tasks, and log closings.
- Actively participate in weekly sales meetings.
- Be responsive and set realistic expectations to manage communications with customers and internally.
- Make recommendations and provide analysis in the new product development process to provide insight into product design and pricing from the sales standpoint.
- Understand and comply with established guidelines that ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND CERTIFICATIONS)
MINIMUM:
- Technical/engineering background preferred.
- Bachelor's degree and three to five years of industry knowledge or sales experience in the capital equipment industry.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Strong sales skills, including marketing and promotion.
- Strong presentation skills and professional appearance.
- Commercial and financial awareness.
- Strong organizational skills.

- Take on additional duties when required.
- Assist in the development of annual sales goals and projections.
- Command of Solidworks and AutoCAD for design work as needed including machine layouts
